The Federal Budget 2022-23 has pledged to increase migrant intake, faster visa processing and steps to reduce the skill shortage across the country.
Read below to hear about the new updates that are announced in the migration industry.
As outlined at the Jobs and Skills Summit, the permanent Migration Program will be expanded to 195,000 in 2022–23 (an increase of 35,000 places).
The Government plans to address the current labour shortages by relaxing the work rights restrictions of international students till June 30th 2023.
The relaxation will end on June 30th 2023, and International students will be able to work up to 48 hours per fortnight from 01 July 2023.
Additional funding will be provided to accelerate visa processing, reduce the visa backlog and raise awareness of the permanent migration program to attract high-skilled migrants to Australia.
Parent visas have almost doubled the allocations from 4500 in 2021-22 from 4,500 to 8,500 for parent visas.
Partner and child visas will remain demand-driven with no limit placed on these.
