Effective from 16 September 2024, Indian passport holders can apply for the Subclass 462 (Work and Holiday) visa, with updated conditions set by the Australian Government.

Australia has committed to allowing up to 1,000 Indian citizens to apply for the Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa each year under the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA).

Key highlights:

1️⃣ Indian applicants are no longer required to provide evidence of support from the Indian government for visa applications.
2️⃣ Applicants must have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary education to qualify

To streamline this process, a new pre-application system will be implemented, featuring a ballot system for the initial round of Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas for Indian applicants. Only those selected through the ballot can submit a formal visa application.

While this process officially begins on September 16, 2024, the specific registration dates for the ballot have not yet been announced.

We will keep you informed as soon as the Department of Home Affairs provides further details.
