The Department of Home Affairs launched the Global Talent Independent (GTI) program on November 4th, 2019, to attract exceptional talent in Australia. The GTI program is a part of the Australian Government initiative, “Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce”, to attract high-value businesses and individuals to Australia.
WHAT IS THE GLOBAL TALENT VISA?
Subclass 858 visa provides a streamlined and priority pathway for highly skilled, talented individuals in ten specific target sectors and encourage them to settle permanently in Australia.
It requires the applicant to be prominent in the target sector with evidence of outstanding achievements and the ability to attract a salary at or above the Fair Work high income threshold.
Applicant Eligibility Critieria
To be eligible for the visa, the applicant must:
Prove that he/she is internationally recognised with their achievements, including evidence of:
being exceptional and outstanding
still prominent in their field
have superior abilities
have a record of sustained achievement unlikely to diminish.
Provide evidence that they will be an asset to Australia – be it economic, social, cultural or raise Australia’s academic, artistic or sports standing internationally
Have no difficulty obtaining employment in Australia
Have a recognised organisation or individual to nominate the application as global talent. Your nominator must be:
An Australia citizen or PR or Eligible NZ Citizen and is from a peak Australia body in the applicant’s field.
Have functional English
Meet health and character requirement
Can attract a salary at or above the Fair Work high income threshold of AUD158,500.

Once you have successfully secured an invitation, you can then apply for a visa. You must also submit your nominator. Please note that you cannot change your nominator once you have lodged a Global Talent visa application.
