Subclass 870 is a temporary parent visa that enables parents to live with their children who are Australian citizens, Permanent Resident or eligible New Zealand Citizen for up to 5 years.
To be eligible for a Subclass 870 visa, you must:
Up to 3 years – AUD 5,090
Up to 5 years – AUD 10,180.
Getting the Subclass 870 – Sponsored Parent Visa is a three-stage process which goes as follows:
STEP 1: Consult with our Agents to determine your eligibility for a Subclass 870 visa.
To begin your application, our Registered Migration Agents will assess your eligibility for the visa, and advise you of all the possible visa pathways for your parents to visit Australia temporarily.
STEP 2: Apply for Parent Sponsorship
Once our agents deem you eligible for a temporary parent visa, we will apply for your Sponsorship Application. Parent Sponsor application must be lodged before you can lodge an application for this visa.
STEP 3: Apply for Visa
Once you have permission to apply for the visa, our Agents will apply for your visa. We may advise you to undertake health or police checks, if it is required for your application.
If you have Permission to Apply in Australia, you must lodge your visa application within 60 days of sponsorship approval. If you do not apply within 60 days, your approved Parent Sponsor may apply again for Permission to Apply in Australia, if the sponsorship is valid.
If you do not have an approved Permission to Apply in Australia request, you will have to lodge your visa application outside Australia within six months of sponsorship approval, or make an application for a different kind of visa to remain in Australia.
You do not need a travel ban to travel to Australia. Unvaccinated visa holders may still need to be in an exempt category or hold an individual travel exemption to enter Australia.
You must have an approved Parent Sponsor to apply for this visa.
Your sponsor’s household is limited to one sponsorship at a time.
Your sponsor’s sponsorship can cover up to 2 parents per household at a time.
You cannot include family members in your visa application.
You cannot stay in Australia longer by extending this visa. You must apply for another visa.
This visa does not lead to permanent residency. You cannot apply for a permanent or temporary parent visa when you have applied for or hold this visa.
75% of applications are processed in 18 Months
90% of applications are processed in 24 Months
CURRENT TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
If you held a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 870) (SPTV) and were outside Australia on 1 July 2021, your visa period has been automatically extended by 18 months.
This concession aims to assist SPTV holders who could not spend the full 3 or 5 years on their visa in Australia due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
If your visa was extended under this concession, the additional 18 months will not count toward your cumulative 10 year maximum stay period.
Sponsorship obligations for SPTV Sponsors have also been extended for the same 18 month period.
You can check your visa details and conditions using VEVO.
