Unrestricted work rights for student visa holders to end on 30 June 2023

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, student visa holders were provided with unrestricted work rights to address the labour shortage in Australia.

However, the Department has announced that they will remove this temporary relaxation from 30th June 2023 to ensure that students prioritise quality education during their term in Australia.

Students will have to restrict their working hours to 20hrs/week or 40hrs/fortnight from the mentioned date.

All ongoing students, new arrivals and secondary applicants can utilise the unrestricted work rights until 30th June 2023.
